The lights are on
We see our work as a practice in fakery. A photograph can showcase, represent and communicate but it is at once subjective and misleading. The single moment is stripped of the context of its timeline and in the lighting studio the maker finds themselves very quickly in the realm of fantasy.
Using a combination of paper sets, hand built props and digital collage, ‘The Lights are on’ was a self initiated work from us here at the studio. The environment we have created sits in that no man’s land between night and day, the instant the harsh strip-lights and LED’s of our man made word flicker on and sit strikingly opposed to the fading natural warmth the days last remaining glow.
